I am an educationalist, Early Years Professional and teacher with over 20 years of experience across diverse educational settings, from early childhood to adult education. My work spans the UK and the African continent, where I have lived and worked for 15 years. Based in Kenya, my understanding of local contexts, combined with high-intermediate Kiswahili, allows me to engage effectively with communities and ensure all my work is culturally relevant and impactful.
I am passionate about foundational literacy and educational leadership. I am the Founder and Director of Education Matters East Africa, an educational consultancy specialising in early grade education and foundational literacy. We deliver professional development, capacity building, and teacher support, working with private and government schools, colleges, universities, teacher training institutions, ministries of education, curriculum centres, and charitable organisations to improve teaching effectiveness and learning outcomes. I also deliver Training of Trainers programmes, empowering educators to implement literacy programmes effectively and sustainably. My focus is on building local capacity, mentoring teachers, and supporting communities to lead their own educational initiatives.
As an official Jolly Phonics & Jolly Grammar Trainer Consultant, I provide in-person and online training for systematic synthetic phonics and grammar programmes.
