I started as a junior swimming coach in 2013 by doing remote classes at various swimming pools and peoples homes around Pretoria, South Africa. Thereafter, in 2015, I was invited to lead the swimming programme at the German International School of Pretoria where I coached approximately 150 learners per year and grew to a team of 5 staff by 2020 and saw the school team go from the E League to the B League in that time. During this time I also ran my own business which did remote personal training, swimming, cycling and running coaching, as well as developed online health and wellness programmes. By 2022 I had started a non-profit to raise funds to develop community programmes that would bridge the gap between endurance sports and mental health. This saw me do several endurance challenges to raise awareness which included: a 7 day triathlon challenge on the East Coast of South Africa covering over 500km by swimming cycling and running; a 6900m elevation cycle on an indoor trainer; a 15km swim in the Prime View dam; a 72km run covering 4400m elevation in Cape Town. Thereafter I was hired as the Head of Aquatics for Water Skills by Harakati in Muscat, Oman. Here I manage the curriculum, extra-curricular and academy programmes from KG1 to Grade 11 with a team of 5. I host triathlon training sessions for aspiring triathletes and run wild swim events throughout each year. Here’s to many more years of aquatic adventures!More...
