Leonie Canham is a former print and broadcast journalist with 25+ years’ experience working in newspapers, radio and as a political media adviser and communications consultant. She has a degree in journalism and public relations and has worked as a senior journalist on police, court, government, business, education and sports rounds as well as features writer, acting chief of staff and ABC reporter and news reader. Leonie also worked as a media adviser to two State Members of Parliament where she was responsible for all media, public relations and speech writing. She now manages her own communications agency - The Splendid Word - specialising in copywriting, storytelling and editing. She also co-hosts 'Spreading The Good Stuff' - a podcast designed to support regional women to thrive in their work, wellness, family and community.
Leonie is heavily involved in the Echuca Moama community where she is founding member & chair of Girls Night Out (Echuca Regional Health Oncology fundraising committee), a founding member of the Echuca Moama Slow City Movement, ambassador for the ERH Cancer & Wellness Centre, founding member of the Campaspe Young Professionals Network, and a past committee member of the Murray Business Network and Rich River Relay For Life.
