I am a storyteller first and a marketer second. I believe that the best marketing strategy for any organization is to tell their own story in authentic ways. Through this mindset, I prioritize impact and quality over quantity in marketing products, which ensures the organizations I work with find success with their target audiences. To keep my creative side on point, I also bring strong communication and project management skills into my workflow. This keeps the creativity flowing while also providing clients with hard deliverables they can count on. My career started as I worked my way through college serving as an Executive Assistant to the director of the Idea Forge at the University of Colorado. During my time here I created promotional material for the Idea Forge, which kickstarted my career in marketing. From brochures to complete ad campaigns for the Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Expo, I used my time at the Idea Forge to spark my passion for visual communication. It was at NREL that I had the "aha" moment that ignited my passion for connecting with audiences. My lab was being interviewed by National Geographic and the journalist had warned us that they "Barely passed high school biology and needed everything explained on a basic level." Unfortunately my colleagues did not take this onboard, and I sat by as a plethora of highly technical concepts disengaged the journalist. Remembering what they had said at the beginning, I stepped in and talked about how algae can be used for incredible science, but we can also eat some strains. This brought the journalist back into the conversation and ended with us actually being quoted in the 2019 National Geographic Climate Issue. From then on in my career I prioritized listening to target audiences and fostering emotional connections over sharing every detail.
