Dr. Laura Cyr is a first-generation student who grew up in Maine and has spent her life living and working in Portland, Lewiston-Auburn, Orono. She works at the as the State and Federal Legislative Liaison for the Maine Department of Education. This role includes acting as the agency rulemaking liaison and now the MIC3 Commissioner Designee. She received degrees from the University of Southern Maine and has taken additional coursework from the Harvard Business School. Dr. Cyr has taught all levels including middle-school and college-level language, writing, communication, and other Humanities topics. She currently teaches project management and professional writing as a distance adjunct professor. Her research interests include public higher education, student loan debt, and equity.
