I am a Hands – on manager and leader with an emphasis on profitability, efficiency and safety. Most recently, as C.O.O. (as a consultant) of a US startup marine manufacturer, took revenues from zero to 2.6M in 23 months.
EXPERIENCE: 1970-1976: United States Army. Positions of increasing responsibility in remote/hazardous locations worldwide as an operator/intelligence officer in the US army Security Agency, the army’s electronic and signals intelligence component of the National Security Agency.
1977-1994: United States Army Special Forces, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Served in remote/hazardous locations worldwide as an operator, counter-intelligence officer and Foreign Affairs Officer (FAO).
1995-1998: Control Risk, Ltd. (UK) Senior Security Specialist. Advised CR’s Middle East clients on matters of security, intelligence, and risk management.
1998-2000: Took 19 months off, and sailed a 38’ sloop rigged sailboat from Spain to the U.S. via the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and the US Virgin Islands (USVI), took my time, and considered it an exercise in taking my retirement on the installment plan.
2000-2004: Port of Pascagoula, Pascagoula, MS. Superintendent of West Bank facilities. Responsible for the safe & profitable operation of four terminals on the west bank to include a lumber, paper, cold storage and marine fabricating facility. Oversaw the daily operations of the west bank port to include cross dock ship loading operations, truck and rail car spotting and unloading, and the safety, motivation, and leadership of approximately 180 port employees.
2004-2008: Independent businessman. Owned and simultaneously operated the deep sea fishing charter boat “Grand Slam” in Biloxi MS; the fishing supply and tackle shop Master Rod & Reel in Ocean springs, MS and a bar & grill, “The Anchor Inn” in Biloxi MS. Sold out in late 2008 at a satisfactory profit.
