I received by B.A. and M.A. seven years after leaving the military with my son on my hip. 10 years later, I returned to school to get my Ed.D. Coming off the heels of my dissertation entitled: Black Boy S.H.I.N.E.: Honoring the Onto-Epistemologies of Black Transitional Males Identified as Emotionally Disturbed, I’m currently working to create spaces where BIPOC students’ embodied knowledge is uplifted and honored as valuable contributions to their learning environments. I started my career in public education as a paraprofessional in an extensive supports needs class and after two years I became an Education Specialist for students with extensive support needs.
