Hi there. I am a Junior UX Designer with approximately 1-2 years’ experience in the field :)
I attained my UX Research certificate through GetSmarter UCT, then later attained more specialised certificates through the Interaction Design Foundation (IDF).
IDF introduced me to Augmented & Virtual Reality (though I am yet to complete a project in this area), applying Gamification techniques into a system and strengthened my other
basic research skills, like User Journey Mapping and Collecting and Summarising Data.
With my degree in Math and Stats, I am stronger and more comfortable in UX - but I am also interested in strengthening my UI skills.
I had the opportunity to act as a research team lead (where we also applied gamification techniques) for an in-house project called The Move Challenge while working at Retro
Rabbit. My UI skills are still improving - motion design is an area I would like to strengthen. And recently; I spent months familiarising myself with Figma’s drawing kit which has
empowered me to create simple, fun and vibrant illustrations that I share on my Instagram account. I also have a YouTube channel where I apply UX principles to create accessible
and fun positive affirmations (i.e. text-heavy content).
Through IDF, I was exposed to Accessibility in UX. I mostly focus on ensuring basic accessibility like colour and font are applied consistently throughout my designs, and would like to strengthen my skills in testing for accessibility - especially any alt-text that I add to an interface.
While working at Retro Rabbit as a design consultant, I had the opportunity to strengthen my Design System skills at Telesure (the client) and would like to continue strengthening
this should the opportunity arise.
