Arivel Figueroa is a public policy consultant in the arts and culture, marketing coordinator, freelance producer, and music blogger based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 2009, she completed a BA in theater at the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras and received another BA in cultural tourism in 2014. She received the Medal of Highest Score from the Faculty of the University of Puerto Rico in 2014, as well as a Fellow of the 2017 National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts Scholarship and a Fellow of the Tisch School of the Arts Scholarship, Goldsmith Award. She worked for the Senate of Puerto Rico as a legislative assistant and Committee staff, creating and participating in a few non-profit projects for local musicians and artists. She is the co-founder and Project Manager of the media and music blog Clandestino Puerto Rico/New York. In May 2018, Figueroa finished her Arts and Public Policy MA at New York University (NYU). In February 2018, she was invited by the University of Pittsburgh's Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) to participate in and present her last research on Cultural Plans in Latin America at the 22nd Latin America Social and Public Policy Conference (LASPP). After living in Brooklyn, NY, for 5 years, working as an event and programming coordinator at the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics at NYU and Dance/NYC.
