My name is Rob, I live in the Bay Area and have been crafting digital experiences for 6+ years. My purpose involves delighting people through digital environments and achieving business outcomes through design. I've worked with start ups and led design projects from 0 to 1, end-to-end while evangelizing the customer's experience at the forefront of my work. Most recent full-time role: PhoneBurner Company size: 75 Teams: Product, Engineering, Growth My responsibilities: - User Research & Testing - Data Analysis & Engagement - Rapid Prototyping & Interaction Testing - Roadmap Planning - Sprint Refinement - Design System & Front-End Refinements - Reported directly to 3 primary stakeholder managers: Heads of Product, Growth, and Development While operating as a full-time product designer focused on Product and Growth, I had the pleasure of collaborating with the Development team to create the company's first in-house design system, which we named "Pepper" (our Github codebase was named "Salt"). Aside from my normal design duties, I wrote basic front-end code, submitted PRs regularly with the front-end team, and published training modules for each new feature or integration we released. I conducted usability tests across various customer segments as we gradually upgraded our front-end framework to Vue 3, scaling our component library across various apps in product and 4 white-label systems. Our usability testing acceptance criteria required conducting impression tests with a confidence level of 80-90% before refining for development. I typically refined components with the front-end team bi-weekly. I used Figma to document our design system library, held weekly front-end refinement meetings using Figma's DevMode, and improved our front-end developer velocity by 10%, 12% and 16% in Q1 and Q2 during my first year employed. We ended up creating our own local design system that served as the source of truth. I enjoyed every aspect of sequencing new design tokens, style guidelines, and our design system protocols.
