My name is Apfeswaho Mpanamana, and I am the founder and managing director of Pfeswa Poultry and Eggs, a proudly South African agribusiness committed to producing fresh, affordable eggs while creating sustainable impact in our local communities.
I started Pfeswa out of both necessity and conviction — necessity, because I saw the daily struggles of families trying to access quality food at a reasonable cost; and conviction, because I believe that agriculture, when done with integrity and vision, can restore dignity, create jobs, and build wealth in our villages.
At the heart of my work is a passion for food security, ethical farming, and community development. I don’t just want to sell eggs — I want to build a business that trains, empowers, and uplifts. From small beginnings, Pfeswa is now on a journey to scale responsibly. We’re formalising our systems, building a competent team, and improving the quality and consistency of everything we offer — from packaging to customer care.
As a woman in agriculture, I’m driven to challenge the norms and stereotypes that often limit rural women’s roles in business. I believe in creating space for women and youth to thrive through enterprise, especially in the agricultural sector where the potential for growth is so often overlooked.
I’m currently focused on building Pfeswa into a model of excellence for small-scale poultry farming — one that integrates faith, strategy, and sustainability. With the right systems and partnerships in place, my vision is to supply eggs not just to local households, but to schools, retailers, and food businesses across the province and beyond.
This is more than business for me — it’s my calling.More...
