At the start of his career, Adam Sjoberg worked as a photojournalist and documentary filmmaker, living out of a suitcase while telling stories around the world. In 2014, he founded LOOSE LUGGAGE MEDIA to pursue ambitious global projects with leading brands and artists. Since then, he has directed and produced four feature films, created an award-winning podcast series, collaborated with brands including Apple, Mini Cooper, and Spotify, and worked alongside figures such as Bono, Troy Polamalu, Nas, Kanye West, and 21 Savage. His work has been recognized with numerous awards and international honors. His first feature, "Shake the Dust" — a collaboration with Nas — captures breakdancers in Yemen, Colombia, Uganda, and Cambodia. His second, "I Am Sun Mu," an indie festival favorite, premiered in the DMZ between North and South Korea and follows a North Korean dissident artist under pressure from both Chinese and North Korean authorities. In 2021, he co-directed "The Falconer," the first feature shot entirely in Oman. Based on a true story, it went on to win more than a dozen awards, including two for Best Direction. Adam’s commercial work spans dozens of countries, from artful brand documentaries like STUDIOSWINE for Mini Cooper and Monster about 21 Savage for Spotify, to global campaigns for clients such as Warby Parker and (RED). In 2021, he co-wrote, co-produced, and edited Spotify’s award-winning podcast "The Messenger," produced in partnership with J. Cole’s Dreamville Studios. His latest feature, "Sons of Paradise," tells the story of Pro NFL Hall-of-Famer Troy Polamalu and American Samoa, weaving together themes of heritage, identity, and sport. Adam lives in Lisbon, Portugal where he is developing new scripted and documentary films and writing a book of autobiographical essays.More...
