R & D engineer and manager with over 25 years of experience in scientific software development and over 7 years developing applications and products for light-field imaging and virtual reality. Early in my career I focused on developing application software and measurement techniques for flow measurement, covering point, image and volumetric (tomographic) flow applications. At Dantec Dynamic I was R & D manager for over 3 years, managing software, opto-mechanical and electronics (mixed-signal and digital) R & D projects. From 2013 to 2015 I was Manager of Computational Photography at Lytro. The Computational Photography group was responsible for the design, development and maintanance of the light-field imaging pipeline for consumer light field cameras. In 2015 Lytro pivoted to light field cinema and VR/AR with a focus on large scale production systems. Since the pivot I have managed the Computational Imaging team with the responsibility of developing the core algorithms for depth, optical flow, camera tracking, segmentation and more. As manager I was intimately involved with product and tool development. In 2017 I was senior computer vision architect at Condition One, a virtual reality production company specializing in capturing and processing large-format stereo VR content for important causes such as climate change, rain-forest deforestation, and more. My responsibilities included developing and maintaining the VR imaging pipeline for a large number of commercial and in-house developed VR camera rigs. In 2018 I was technical software lead engineer at Microvision, developing the next generation MEMS-based automotive lidar sensor. A large part of my work focused on simulating lidar sensor performance for a number of automotive scenarios.
