Jean-Philippe Côté | Researcher | Psychosocial Risk Specialist | Former Truck Driver | M.A. in Work & Employment Sciences (Université Laval)
With a diverse and dynamic professional path, I bring together 7 years of real-world experience as a truck driver, a background in music (B.A. and M.A.), and advanced training in psychology and industrial relations. I'm currently pursuing a master's degree in Work and Employment Sciences with a research focus on presenteeism and mental health in the trucking industry, where I aim to influence policy and improve working conditions for drivers.
My research bridges theory and practice, using models from occupational psychology (e.g., Gary Johns’ dynamic presenteeism model) and data-driven analysis to uncover psychosocial risk factors affecting drivers in Quebec. I’ve also worked as a psychosocial worker in the homelessness sector, sharpening my applied knowledge of mental health in high-risk populations.
I’m passionate about transforming workplace health and safety standards, especially in transport and logistics, through research, advocacy, and collaboration.
