I’m a fractional CTO and systems architect who helps organizations untangle the technology that runs their business — from core applications and data flows to integrations, email/journey marketing, and reporting.
Over the last 20+ years I’ve designed, stabilized, and modernized platforms that handle high stakes and high volume: systems processing hundreds of millions in annual transactions, including the technology stack behind a $3.2B capital campaign. My bias is toward impact: fewer manual processes, fewer failures, faster feedback loops, and clear visibility into what’s working (and what isn’t).
While I have deep experience in higher-ed and nonprofit advancement, the patterns repeat across industries. I’m typically brought in when:
Core systems (CRM, ERP, custom apps) don’t agree on “source of truth”
Integrations are brittle, hand-coded, or undocumented and keep breaking after vendor or schema changes
Bulk email and customer/donor journeys underperform or create compliance and deliverability risk
Workflows (acknowledgments, billing, receipting, provisioning, etc.) are slow, error-prone, and rely on spreadsheets and heroic staff effort
Reporting can’t answer basic leadership questions without manual exports and one-off SQL
I’ve led cross-functional teams and vendors through complex upgrades and replatforming efforts, from architecture and vendor selection through zero-downtime cutovers and post-launch tuning. I’m comfortable working in the weeds with engineers and admins, then turning around and making tradeoffs legible to executives and boards.
If you suspect your systems are quietly taxing your team, throttling growth, or hiding risk, I’m open to a short, focused conversation to map the issues and outline practical options.More...
