Melissa 'mel' Rolston has worked in the health care industry since 2009 and narrowed her focus to medical cannabis in 2013. She has spent her time in the industry consulting clinic startups, working as an EA with an LP applicant and has acted as a liaison between patients and physicians during cannabis prohibition. Raised in a holistic home, she sees the benefits of bridging the gap between conventional and holistic medicine. Inspired by her upbringing, in September 2016 Melissa co-founded TeamMD, a full spectrum medical education start-up with her partner Sandy Carveth BN, RN. Her patient advocacy — inspired by being a patient herself — has led her on a path fuelled by acts of compassion to assist medical patients who have fallen through the cracks of our current medical system with her nonprofit BTS Stories. In addition to developing her own businesses, Melissa relaunched and co-ran the Toronto Market for Women Grow which held Signature Networking Events the first Thursday of every month for Cannabis Industry Professionals. In June of 2017 Melissa took her public speaking skills to the next level when she was asked to host a weekly segment on SiruisXM every Monday titled "The Cannabis Report" sponsored by Boveda Inc. In the fall of 2018, she was asked to co-host a special series of interviews alongside Andrew Krystal leading up to Canada's Federal Legalization (Oct. 17th, 2018). The series aired every week 1-2 times a day on ch167 Canada Talks on SiriusXM. On Jan. 21st, 2020 Rolston launched phase one of her go-to-market strategy for her cannabis-infused skincare company, JADA, with the JADA X Dana collaboration. JADA X Dana features high-end cannabis-inspired jewellery designed to create an emblem that represents where we currently are in Canadian cannabis history. Proceeds from the JADA X Dana collaboration are donated to support BTS Stories by covering the operational costs of the organization to continue to fuel young activism, spark social change, and bridge community and capital.
