Duncan has a BSc (Econ) Hons degree in accountancy & finance from the London School of Economics & has 32 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector.
The majority of this time has been focussed in the music & entertainment sector where he has an extensive network of clients & professionals through helping them progress their business / achieve greater profitability & efficiency.
Originally trained at Prager & Fenton, who are a music & entertainment specialist firm of Chartered Accountants, advising & acting for clients including worldwide acts & clients i) AC/DC, ii) Def Leppard iii) Pet Shop Boys iv) A&M Records v) Rondor Music (Dire Straits).
After leaving Prager & Fenton in 1994, he was appointed as assistant controller at Warner/Chappell Music, a > £69m turnover business, which was part of Time Warner. He left Warner/Chappell in 1997.
As a result of his contact base and reputation, he was recruited & appointed as European Finance Director at peermusic (http://peermusic.com), which is the world's largest independent music publishing company with >500k songs & the UK & European business had a > £20m turnover. He remained there for 9 years & during this time introduced new financial systems & controls to enhance overall efficiency & profitability of the business.
From 2006, he set up his own practice & offered freelance services which included i) Part Time Finance Director at Firebrand Live > £14m turnover business which is an independently owned & operated global merchandising company (http://www.firebrandlive.com), ii) Controller at Law Firm Campbell Hooper > £15m turnover business, and iii) Fractional Finance Director at independent music publisher, Jack Russell Music Limited >£2m turnover.More...
