I am a psychiatrist, public health professional, and researcher with a career shaped by the intersections of health systems, public policy, and the specific challenges of Brazil. I have served as a public manager in Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS), where I was responsible for mental health, alcohol, and drug policy in the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro. This experience gave me a deep understanding of how health policies are shaped and implemented in complex and unequal social contexts.
As an epidemiologist, I have worked across various areas including occupational health and mental health, with special attention to vulnerable populations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I served as a technical advisor, supporting public health responses in collaboration with justice institutions and health authorities at municipal, state, and federal levels. I have also been involved in the design and evaluation of mental health strategies in the context of natural disasters, where the integration of health services and emergency planning is essential.
In addition, I bring experience in data analysis and mixed-methods research, with proficiency in tools such as Tableau, Stata, R, and Python. My interdisciplinary background allows me to contribute meaningfully to research in global health, with a focus on improving access, equity, and resilience in public health systems, particularly in Brazil.More...
