Johann Kraus is an Art Director and Designer based in Milan, originally from Germany, working across visual identity, film, 3D campaigns, and research-driven design. His practice focuses on shaping clear visual direction by bringing together different tools, disciplines, and modes of thinking into cohesive, conceptually grounded outcomes.
He graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising & Beyond. During his studies, he completed a six-month internship at NEWFORMAT in Berlin and later continued working with the studio as an Assistant Art Director. His experience spans long-form film, brand systems, exhibitions, and commercial campaigns, including a 45-minute feature film premiered in 2025, exhibitions in Rotterdam and Paris, and design work for a leading sustainable luxury cosmetics retailer in Germany.
Johann is comfortable working across both conceptual development and hands-on execution, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and adapting to different project scales and contexts.
