Gene has over 29 years of healthcare experience in healthcare financial management and operations. His work experience has touched nearly every financial and operational aspect of the healthcare delivery system.
He is an active board member of three health care related entities and acts as an advisor to several organizations regarding the financing of healthcare. He has spoken on a variety of healthcare and insurance financing topics across the country.
Gene leverages his experience as a former Chief Operating Officer of a national health plan's creating business partnerships with providers and third party payers. By maintaining strong, cooperative relationships, he has been able to foster a solid working relationship and align payer and provider incentives through several quality and pay per performance programs.
He played an executive leadership role in the operations of the Cabell Huntington Hospital and Marshall Health Academic Medical Center providing physician alignment strategies with various specialties and sub-specialties. His division created the first Accountable Care Organization in West Virginia with both hospitals, a university practice plan and private physician groups.
