I hold two undergraduate degrees in science (molecular biology, radiation therapy) and two graduate degrees in the humanities (theology, philosophy). I worked for 12 years as a radiation therapist, and have general clinical assessment skills and medical knowledge as well as specialized skills in medical radiation technology. I have used my transferrable soft skills to transition to work in residential mental health and addictions. Currently completing a doctorate in the humanities, I have advanced research skills, along with diverse teaching experience ranging from clinical instruction of technical and soft skills, to tutoring, to grading papers and providing feedback at a post secondary level. I also maintain a successful academic blog.More...

As the current Director of Newfoundland and Labrador Integrated Youth Services (NL-IYS) at CFY, I have been at the forefront of building a province-wide, community-informed model to integrate youth mental health, addictions, and wraparound services. In this role, I have led multi-sectoral partnerships, managed complex projects, and built strong governance structures to ensure collaborative leadership and youth engagement remain central to our efforts.
Throughout my career—as CEO of the Canadian Cancer Society (NL), Executive Director of the Canadian Paraplegic Association NL, and leader in numerous community organizations—I have demonstrated success in fund development, government relations, public policy advocacy, and systems planning. I’ve consistently secured and stewarded diversified revenue portfolios, driven evidence-informed programs, and led organizational transformation efforts, all while centering the needs and voices of marginalized populations.More...
