I’m Natalie Cadena, a seasoned education professional and writer with over 13 years in public education and 15 years of experience in professional writing. I hold an Ed.S. in Education Administration and currently serve as a district-level special education director, where I oversee both in-person and virtual instructional staff. My role focuses on compliance with IDEA and OCR regulations, staff development, and program evaluation to ensure that students receive equitable, high-quality services. In addition to my work in education, I’m the Executive Director of Gravel & Grit, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit dedicated to transparency, accountability, and rural advocacy in Arkansas. Our organization emerged in response to the proposed construction of a 3,000-bed mega-prison in Franklin County, and I’ve spent the past year digging into legislative records, infrastructure plans, and financial reports to educate the public and hold decision-makers accountable. I’m also a writer with a background in both creative and professional writing. Over the years, I’ve written everything from advocacy pieces and editorial content to grant applications and educational resources. My work is rooted in a desire to make complex information accessible and compelling… whether I’m telling a story, explaining a policy, or highlighting the voices of everyday people. Writing is not just a skill I use; it’s a tool I rely on to inform, connect, and inspire action.More...
