My background and expertise lies in international expansion, project management and partnerships In 2021, I joined SumUp, one of Europe’s leading fintech companies, in the strategy team of their global expansion department. During my time at SumUp I learned about effectively researching new markets and what goes into ensuring that the right ones get selected. I also learned about the incredible cross-functional effort it takes to launch new markets as well as to expand existing product/service offerings to new markets. I was responsible for shaping the project for launching payment links, one of SumUp’s core digital payment offerings in 20 new markets, for instance. After having worked in 3 different roles at SumUp and on various kinds of projects, I felt it was time for a new challenge, and I decided to join Buycycle, a high growth eCom startup based in Munich, as strategic project manager. Buycycle had one big mission when I joined, and that was to launch the US market. As project lead, I created the project launch plan, secured stakeholder buy-in from various key teams (Ops, product, marketing & finance) and took care of all legal requirements to be able to launch. It was a successful project - we hit the targeted launch date and the US is now buycycle’s second most successful market in terms of revenue. I used the US launch as a template to develop Buycycle’e expansion playbook, and we launched the Canadian market soon after.
