Anica’s primary research focus is on teacher agency and identity in order to support the potential of K-12 teachers of science to serve as autonomously-driven systems-level change agents. Anica also publishes in the areas of computational thinking, climate change, modeling, and social network analysis. Recently Anica has started to investigate Networks of Networks, and Indigenous/nonIndigenous science collaborative efforts. Anica uses social science research as a tool to meet a commitment to rigorous analysis in service to the education system, a system with transformative potential for justice and equity. Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., Anica taught K-12, designed and performed professional development learning experiences, and created curricula and other learning materials; these experiences inform her research interests. Anica is also the founder and Executive Director of Nature Educates a science and education consultancy organization with a variety of clients including schools, networks, not-for-profit organizations, and governmental agencies to support their needs around evaluation and research, facilitation, network coordination, and project management.More...
