I am a 20+ year RN with most of my career in Critical Care. My last 4 years, I have chosen to move into a Nursing Supervisor position. In my position as a Nursing Supervisor, I am responsible for the staffing of the oncoming shift, staff changes during my shift, handling complaints from patients, families, doctors and associates. I am also responsible for a variety of administrative duties as assigned by my superiors.
Previous to becoming a nurse, I had 12+ years in Fast Food Management. I mention this because much of what I learned as a Manager has helped me in my nursing career, mainly customer service and how to get along with people.
I have an Associates Degree in Nursing, a BS in Occupation Safety and Health Engineering, and a Masters in Healthcare Administration.
I am less than 3 years from possible retirement but don't want to stop working. I am interested in finding a position I can I can do during my off time now that will provide me with an additional income when I retire. I am looking for a remote position because my wife and I would like to travel.
One thing about me is my need for improvement, in myself and my employment. My personal belief is a business that is not improving and changing, is dying. My major frustration is the amount and layers of approval sometimes required to make a simple change that could improve the processes almost immediately.
I feel I have the work ethic of mine and my parents generation. When I work for you, I work for you. I will normally do whatever is asked, if legal and moral, but would like to be able to ask occasional questions.More...
