Amanda Palmer is now at the helm of ArtCinema, a cultural platform that champions artists and the arts by creating inspired meeting points for creatives, producers, patrons, investors, cinephiles, and art lovers to discover and support independent artists with year round labs, programming and special events. An internationally renowned creative entrepreneur, Palmer has spearheaded globally influential cultural start-ups such as the Doha Film Institute, Doha Film Fund, and the Doha Tribeca Film Festival. She previously served as the Founding Head of Entertainment at Al Jazeera English and has executive produced award winning film projects featuring A-list talent that premiered at Cannes and the Venice Film Festival. Palmer's career highlights include collaborations with acting legend Al Pacino and maestro producer and hitmaker, Nile Rodgers, executive producing Kanye West’s concept film "Cruel Summer" and director Mira Nair’s "The Reluctant Fundamentalist," which opened the Venice Film Festival. She has helped greenlight award-winning films, including Ziad Doueiri’s "The Attack" (Toronto Film Festival) and Nadine Labaki’s "Where Do We Go Now," which won the People's Choice Award at Toronto. Labaki later became the first Arab woman director nominated for an Academy Award in 2019. As the original Head of Entertainment for Al Jazeera English, Palmer created acclaimed programs, including the international film program, "The Fabulous Picture Show" and the cultural travel series "48," reaching 220 million homes. Palmer strategised and built the Doha Film Institute as the founding Executive Director, overseeing a team of 150 and leading three Doha Tribeca Film Festivals and co-financing more than 70 films during her tenure.
