Hi, I’m MK, Creative Director of Ethnopunk. I’m an ethnomusicologist, composer, and music producer, with a passion for blending traditions and modern sounds. My journey started in punk rock in Slovakia, continued through pop-rock in Australia, and later led me into classical studies and ethnomusicology in Ireland, where I specialized in Tsugaru Shamisen.
I’ve performed and collaborated internationally, from walking a three-year music pilgrimage across Japan to sharing the stage in India with masters like Vikku Vinayakram and Tanmoy Bose. Now based in Kyoto, I’m focused on research, cultural exchange, and creating new projects—like my debut album Seven Lucky Gods—to share the depth and beauty of traditional and contemporary music with global audiences.More...
