Alisa Erlikh
Instructor @Toronto Film School
Verified
Having graduated the International Baccalaureate program at Victoria Park Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Alisa went on to acquire an Honours Bachelor Degree from University of Toronto, with a Double Major in Psychology and Microbiology & Molecular Genetics. After her scientific pursuits, she continued to study her childhood passion of music, having been classically trained in piano by her mother (a Soviet-trained pianist). Her talent was recognized by her middle school teacher, who advocated for Alisa to study a unique musical instrument, the oboe. She was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatory of Music, going on to play in several orchestras during her high school and university pursuits. After university, to further her passion for sound, she acquired a diploma from Trebas Institute for Audio Engineering, Production and the DJ Arts. Exploring every aspect of audio engineering since 2014, Alisa has come to love sound for film. Performing both location sound and audio post duties has given her opportunities to oversee sound for projects from set to screen. Having experience as a producer and director has also allowed her to become familiar with the overall process of film making, thus letting her merge seamlessly with the rest of the crew. Invited to host educational audio workshops at programs and establishments like Digital Media for Children at Centennial College and the filmmaking program at POV Film, Alisa has fulfilled her childhood dream of being an educator for young and aspiring minds. Currently an instructor of Audio for Film Production at Toronto Film School, Alisa is the first point of contact in sound training for aspiring film makers. Teaching and applying the theory of sound and audio to film production and editing, Alisa is passionately overseeing the development of the next generation of potential sound recordists and storytellers.More...
