Kim is a painter, printmaker, and an overall creative with a professional career that spans a range of disciplines and industries over that last 20 years. With numerous bodies of work, Kim covers a variety of genres from realism to abstract, colorful to black and white, and traditional to esoteric, with all showing the same level of skill and dedication across her portfolio.
I care as much about how work is made as why it’s made, therefore the practical foundation for all of my work is a combination of technique, craftsmanship, intent, and process, all of which give my interests something stable on which to grow. However, the primary drive behind why I make art is the desire for a genuinely honest and thoughtful means of expressionfull of fascination and wonder. Unsurprisingly then, my work represents the wide variety of subjects and processes that pique my interests and the quirky ways said variety combines in my imagination.
From drawing with pencil on paper, to drawing connections between seemingly disparate print-making processes; from processes where I am intentional with every brush stroke, to those where I intentionally fly blindly until the very last moments; I am combining my interests in the only way I know how, in a way that sometimes only I know how.
Because the avenues for my self-expression change and evolve, I often work in series, leaving them open-ended to accept new works.
My studio, Third Switch Studios, seeks to encompass not only my personal artwork, but also my collaborative projects with other people and organizations.
