Aug. 2014 - Mar. 2017GlobalTrauma Training for Journalists is a group of journalists who share a mission of teaching journalists - especially local journalists, such as fixers, translators, local videographers and reporters - how to plan for and deal with physical and mental traumas sustained in hazardous reporting environments. Using medically trained instructors, we periodically organize training courses in various locations around the world. All instructors and staff are volunteers, and we operate as a nonprofit organization.

I’m also attending Academy of Art University’s online Master of Fine Arts Photography program. I have previously worked as a photojournalist and documentary photographer, covering the struggle of returning Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans (2009-2014), covering the Iraqi and Syrian civil conflicts (2014-2015), and a brief foray into commercial photography for Discover Your Game/BeKnown LLC (2013-2014). I am outspoken about mental health, and carry a diagnosis of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I’m also the kind of person who considers all dogs, regardless of size or age, to be “puppies.” Previous clients include: Foundry Photojournalism Workshops, The Wall Street Journal, La Presse (Canada), De Tijd (Belgium), Bild (Germany).
