The group’s function includes media analysis, media liaison, and commentary and lobbying on domestic and international issues. I joined the group as a junior researcher and administrator. My duties included office management as well as researching and writing on various topics. My role quickly evolved to senior researcher, mentoring new intakes and guiding the work that was done. I was the primary media liaison and stakeholder liaison. The stakeholders included foreign dignitaries, national government officials and members of the community. In the absence of any of the four executive members, I was the official spokesperson and have represented the organisation on television, radio and at public events.
