BrandworkzSenior Frontend Developer
Jun. 2014 - Feb. 2020London, United KingdomBrandworkz specialises in brand management software and we have spent the last 15 years building and developing it from the ground up. Today it is used by hundreds of clients, whether global commercial companies or medium sized brand-led businesses across dozens of countries to grow their brand value. My responsibilities include the upkeep of the current software and the front end technical lead on all new software developments. Planning the front end infrastructure and creating the build tools. Reviewing and advising upon designs, advising and offering estimates on all new software developments and client customisations. I am currently facilitating the companies move from a pure JQuery stack to React. This is to utilise the reusable components and cut down the amount of duplicated code within the system, all new modules are now built with React. Previous projects include a skinning tool where our client service team and make a certain amount of client customisations without the need for front end coding, saving hours of developer time. A custom built annotations tool that was to replace a 3rd party paid for app to save the company a yearly subscription fee. The complete overhaul of the DAM system from an old user interface to a new interface packed full of UX features for easier management of a companies digital assets, this transformed the way our clients interacted with our system making it easier to manage and share their assets. Brandworkz Clients include: MOD, NBC Universal, ArcelorMittal, Brother, British Council, Transitions Optical, Rathbones, Icebreaker, to name a few.
Web Developer
Self EmployedWeb Developer
Jan. 2013 - Mar. 2018Watford, United KingdomI started coding for small clients in my spare time as I learnt to code, I still do this to this day. It gives me the chance to get involved with projects that I wouldn't normally have the opportunity to do as well as learn skills that I may have previously overlooked. This has meant that I have had to get my hands into more of a full stack environment. Having previously starting out learning PHP I have now moved completely into a Node.js backend and a React front end. I particularly like creating websites for clients because it gives me a complete all round view of the process. From initial conversations with the client, getting this into a spec and creating designs. From there choosing the tech stack, be it straight HTML with a PHP email or a full React front Node back end connecting to a Mongo database. Seeing the project right the way through till the end gives great satisfaction and hearing that the client equally loves it adds to the feeling.
