Feb. 2018 - Mar. 2020Fadial, Senegal• Collaborated with local counterparts and government officials to achieve Peace Corps Senegal’s main health objective: ending preventable maternal and newborn death.
• Independently conducted on-site needs analysis and solution development to address the real-time health and wellness challenges faced by a community of several thousand individuals.
• Conducted a community-wide baseline survey, interviewing >500 stakeholders to collect data on key indicators related to health issues impacting the target population.
• Applied for, awarded, and managed four federally funded grants; responsible for project design and implementation, budget, mission-related staffing, financial closeout, and reporting outcomes.
• Secured funding from World Connect to rebuild the Fadial Maternity Ward and managed all subsequent projects from inception to completion, enhancing the lives of pregnant women and their newborns.
• Established and implemented a new mothers monitoring program across eight villages, serving a population of 7k people and targeting 200 pregnant women/new mothers per year.
• Provided leadership, direct people management, and training to a team of 23 community health workers running mothers groups within their villages to ensure long-term support within the community.
• Served as a field supervisor in the 2019 National Census & Bed Net Distribution, coordinating 100+ home visits.
• Orchestrated a Women’s Youth Camp serving >100 middle school aged women and 35 peace corps volunteers including securing grant funding, coordinating all travel, lodging, venue, and meal logistics, creating lessons, and securing guest speakers.
• Established and conducted multiple training programs on critical topics such as female and reproductive health, malaria, English and cultural education, and achieving success academically and professionally.
• Created a Women’s Health Day event attended by 65 nurses and community health workers and over 200 community members.
