Dec. 2010 - May. 2019Doha, QatarIn his capacity as a leader, advisor, coach/mentor, and consultant, Aarn played a pivotal role in corporate governance, risk management, assurance, strategy execution, and organizational design for the 39 boards, executives, and organizations of Qatar Petroleum (QP) and the Qatar Petroleum Group (QPG) of companies. Reporting directly to the Chairman & CEO of QP, the Minister of Energy & Industry (Qatar), and the President of OPEC (2015/16), he provided expert guidance and leadership on critical issues. Aarn’s expertise in governance, risk, and assurance was instrumental in driving strategic outcomes at Qatar Petroleum, supporting their long-term objectives and operational excellence on a global scale. Key Achievements:
- Provided high-value strategic advice, leadership, and coaching on governance, risk, strategy, and assurance to senior leadership. His contributions supported Qatar Petroleum in meeting an annual profit target of USD $120 billion through the production and sale of 77 MMT of LNG, 800K BOE/D, LPG, NGL, petrochemicals, and power/water.
- Led independent control evaluations, ensuring that management’s processes and controls were effective, and that key control tests operated as intended. Recommended risk mitigation strategies to improve control effectiveness and supported the achievement of national strategic goals for operational excellence and strategy execution.
- Reviewed and evaluated internal and external audit reports submitted to the Chairman and Managing Director, ensuring that high-risk audit findings were addressed with timely management action or change management plans.
- Played a key role in board governance and management control by reviewing, analyzing, and advising on issues arising from corporate meeting minutes, management reports, and assurance reports. Aarn’s interventions ensured effective oversight and alignment with strategic and operational objectives, resulting in improved organizational performance and operational continuity.
