Work Background
Supervisor R&D Powertrain (Film Capacitors Division)
KEMET Electronics CorporationSupervisor R&D Powertrain (Film Capacitors Division)
Jan. 2023Bologna, Emilia Romagna, ItaliaI work in the Powertrain department of the Film business unit. I report directly to the R&D Powertrain Manager as Product Team Supervisor. What I do: - As Team Supervisor, I coordinate the activities of a product engineers team in the development of DC-Link capacitors for e-mobility inverters; - I am responsible for defining, refining, and consolidating design methodologies with the goal of optimizing the flow of design activities and training junior designers; - I am the main interface with customers (OEM or TIER1, leaders in the automotive systems manufacturing market) - I interact with other business unit functions, including R&D Process and Equipment and R&D Materials, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production - thereby coordinating the development process from proof of concept through prototype fabrication and validation to production deployment. I often travel to the production plant in Macedonia. Achievements: - Refining project methodologies based on project leader experience (using design tools such as FEA). - Implementation of design to manufacturing (DFMA) methodologies. - Cost optimization (design to cost) in collaboration with the Cost-Engineering area, participating in cost-reduction activities.
Product Engineer
KEMET Electronics CorporationProduct Engineer
Apr. 2020 - Jan. 2023Sasso Marconi, Emilia Romagna, ItaliaWithin the Powertrain department of the Film business unit, I report directly to the R&D Powertrain Manager as a Product Engineer. What I do: - As a Product Engineer I drive the definition of the technical solution, starting from customer requirements for the development of DC-Link capacitors for electric traction inverters; - I produce feasibility analysis of the technical solution starting from the electrical sizing of the capacitor to the 3d design of the component and verification in simulation of the main electromagnetic and thermal parameters - Together with the Product Manager, I am the main technical interface with customers (market leaders in manufacturing for automotive components and systems, working closely with their designers); - I interact often with all the business units functions including R&D Process, Materials and Equipment, Quality, Supply Chain and Production - thus participating in the development process from proof of concept through prototype realization and validation to production deployment. - As an interim role, I take care of 2D drawings analysis and realization of metrological programs on CMM (coordinate measurement machine) for powertrain film capacitors. Achievements: - We won the nomination for a major DC-link capacitors supply from a leading multinational / multi-business company in the area of powertrain systems and E-Mobility (Tier 1). Through my organizational skills, I was able to manage interdisciplinary activities from the very beginning with the involvement of various business units and major international suppliers (mainly in the Asian region) which enabled business and team growth. - I contributed to the optimization of production costs in collaboration with the Cost Engineering area by participating in cost-reduction activities
Monitoring and Automation Engineer
Enertronica Santerno S.p.AMonitoring and Automation Engineer
Apr. 2016 - Jan. 2018Castel Guelfo di Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, ItalyI’m employed in the Monitoring and Automation area as a software engineer, directly reporting to the M&A manager. What I do: • Development of power plant control and monitoring software applications for centralized control of large photovoltaic plants (Utility Scale) and grid-connected energy storage systems (on Linux based platform); • On-field support to testing and after-sales teams for commissioning of monitoring systems for photovoltaic inverter stations and power plants. Achievements: • Release of a new product "Power Plant controller"
Software and Control Engineer (Supervisor)
Elettronica Santerno SpaSoftware and Control Engineer (Supervisor)
May. 2012 - Mar. 2016Within the Powertrain department of the Film business unit, I report directly to the Software & Control Manager as a Control Engineer. What I do: • Design and Simulation of control algorithms for power inverters applied to renewable power production and industrial applications. • Code generation and integration on microcontrollers or DSP (automatic code generation tools). • Design and development of lab testing devices and setup for power inverters. • Development of software simulation models for utility scale photovoltaic inverters for Power System integration analysis. • Coordination of a Control Engineering team (in the last 2 years). Achievements: • As a part of the team, I produced software releases including advanced grid interconnection features, mandatory for compliance to worldwide national grid codes where photovoltaic inverters were installed (e.g. frequency and voltage regulation, LVRT, HVRT, active and reactive power control). • Acquisition of new laboratory devices for the testing of grid connected inverters. • After proving my competence as a team member I have been entrusted with the “Control design” team supervisor.
Product Application Engineer
Elettronica Santerno SpaProduct Application Engineer
Mar. 2011 - May. 2012ImolaIn the Application Engineering team and reporting directly to the Photovoltaic Product Manager. What I do: • Definition of product specifications (HW and SW) for utility scale photovoltaic inverters with special reference to major international grid standards (grid codes). • Coordination of R&D and test & certification departments to implement required features. • Product validation and Release into production. • Coordination of certification process according to the most important international standards (Europe, China, USA). Achievements: • As project leader I have coordinated and finalized grid code compliance assessments and certifications (Italy, Germany, Spain, China, etc.) with frequent trips in far east and Germany.
