My experience included in person representation at administrative tribunals for disciplinary hearings, parole board hearings, security classification and segregation review board hearings. I provided oral and written advocacy for clients to improve their conditions of confinement, assist them to secure release from solitary confinement, mental and physical health concerns, access to opiate replacement therapy and access to legal counsel. My role also involved research and advocacy on systemic concerns, including mental health and solitary confinement, self harming, access to basic necessities, abuse and neglect of prisoners.

Jan. 2011 - Mar. 2012Provided individual and systemic advocacy for girls and young women in British Columbia with respect to poverty, homelessness, racial and gender discrimination, criminalization, police and violence. My role involved assisting with reports to UN bodies and conventions to which Canada is a signatory, advocacy to local, provincial and national elected representatives, and engagement with media on pressing issues facing girls and young women. I provided outreach and support to young women in BC's Youth Correctional Facilities, and specifically with respect to abuse and treatment by police and conditions of confinement. I provided court support and monitoring for young women facing criminalization and also as victims of violence.

Conducted interviews with girls in the Phillipines about conditions and treatment inside jails and youth prisons.
