My role involved assisting with reports to UN bodies and conventions to which Canada is a signatory, advocacy to local, provincial and national elected representatives, and engagement with media on pressing issues facing girls and young women. I provided outreach and support to young women in BC's Youth Correctional Facilities, and specifically with respect to abuse and treatment by police and conditions of confinement. I provided court support and monitoring for young women facing criminalization and also as victims of violence.
