Joined when ICU were recovering from financial difficulties. Stabilised finances and increased focus onto positive organisational impact for membership. Directed re-organisation of commercial and senior management teams to enhance strategic capacity for growth areas and alignment with organisation’s new strategy. • Led the increase in commercial services income, grants and sponsorship received, as well as memberships engagement and activity levels, resulting in the growth of turnover from £6M to £10M over four years. • Enhanced general reserves from £600k to £1M+ and developed the first-ever investment portfolio of £1.5M. • Headed the formulation as well as execution of a new strategic plan, refocusing union on membership as well as increasing engagement and activity levels. • Directed the design and implementation of a balanced scorecard for performance management across a range of metrics including financial, operational, as well as members and people. • Spearheaded the initiation of a whole-organisation ‘ways of working’ project including the introduction of improved digital solutions, resulting in the achievement of Investors in People (IIP) Gold accreditation and a more agile and collaborative working culture. • Built and maintained excellent working relationships with Imperial College Provost, Vice-Provosts, CFO, College Secretary, Faculty Deans, and Directorate Heads.
