Applied researcher with a background in Speech Sciences, Linguistics, Phonetics, Psycholinguistics, and Psychology with over 6 years’ experience designing and delivering experimental and mixed-methods research in academic and applied settings. My work focuses on speech, language, and communication development, using quantitative and qualitative approaches to generate evidence that informs clinical practice, research, and service improvement. I currently lead a large longitudinal research project developing a normative speech database of typically developing children in Scotland, designed to support speech and language therapists (SLTs) in improving diagnosis, assessment, and prognosis of speech difficulties in children. The project involves coordinating multi-site data collection across primary schools, working closely with SLTs, academics, educators, and multidisciplinary stakeholders, and managing complex behavioural and speech datasets. My expertise includes experimental design, survey design, speech data collection and analysis, acoustic phonetics, qualitative interviewing, statistical analysis (R/Python), evidence synthesis, and communicating complex findings to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. I have experience producing reports, presentations, visual resources, and practical outputs designed to support real-world application of research findings. Alongside strong technical and analytical skills, I bring excellent stakeholder engagement, project coordination, communication, and organisational skills. I am experienced managing competing priorities, collaborating across disciplines, and delivering high-quality outputs under tight timelines. I am particularly interested in part-time and freelance opportunities in speech and language research, phonetics, psycholinguistics, experimental research, social research, user research, clinical research, evidence synthesis, research operations, and research communication.
