Jan. 2013 - May. 2017Kampala, Uganda• Ensuring the security of networks and servers on the International University of East Africa (IUEA) network • Monitoring server performance and maintaining enterprise applications on servers • Responsible for problem solving of security and performance issues and for documentation of current and new servers in both physical and virtual environments • Performing and overseeing continuous system health checks, user administration, and application of patches and upgrades • Performing data management services, server tuning, and directory services maintenance • Ensuring compliance to security standards, policies and guidelines across the university’s network • Providing business continuity through thorough back-up and restore procedures, and periodic testing of outage scenarios • Administering and maintaining a Linux/Windows-based server network, with a combination of physical and virtual servers • Assisting in the operations and maintenance of the Campus Local Area Network • Providing third level support for desktop resolution issues and serving as support-of last-resort for the ICT Support Center and for Network Technicians • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting group policy and administrative templates • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting, and maintaining server-based applications running on the network including CentOS and Active Directory Services 2008 and 2012 • Administering and maintaining the servers running the university’s EIS and ERP systems • Coordinating and working with outside vendors to resolve problems and issues with server hardware and software products used by the university • Managing access to network resources including network accounts, mailboxes, etc. • Planning, deploying, and documenting new servers, printers, devices, and services • Planning and deployment of disaster recovery procedures
