Together with the CFO, our aim is to identify and remedy any risks in the company processes, specifically by utilizing the power of data analytics. Projects are born by focusing on a section of the company and identify weak points in the processes and available data. Through data analytics, we then try to identify and remedy fraud, inefficiency, redundancy, data integrity, data quality etc. These projects have lead to more ease of mind surrounding our claims and underwriting processes, less monetary spend on claims, a more optimized renewal process, more successful recoveries and much more.

We were developers and software engineers supporting the trading infrastructure. On a daily, we fixed bugs, wrote custom scripts, handled data queries, maintained the servers, amended trades and investigated portfolio- and trade valuation issues in the Front Office Market Risk space. Software exposure: - Front Arena (now Cross-Asset Trading and Risk Platform) - SQL and ASQL - Python - MOPL (in-house reporting system) -JIRA -Github To be successful in this team, a deep knowledge of financial markets- and instruments is needed. High skill in coding and knowledge of the ABSA infrastructure is a necessity. Because of my studies, I was at home regarding the financial knowledge, but had to sharpen my coding to be on the level of these elite developers. I have undoubtedly improved my skills in this regard. We were required to know the trading process from beginning to end. Our team was the most knowledgeable about the processes of the Front-and Middle Office in the bank. This holistic view and understanding is necessary to find and fix the root causes of errors arising.
