Jul. 1985 - Sep. 2013South YorkshireI was the senior technical fire safety officer for a Metropolitan Fire and Rescue Service responsible for technical fire safety and its enforcement under the Fire Safety Order. I developed and managed the risk based inspection program for a Metropolitan Fire and Rescue Service. I was responsible for the checking of all fire engineered solutions and complex fire strategy submissions made by Local Authority Building Control and Approved Inspectors. I served on the Chief Fire Officers Association Enforcement Working Group and was the protection lead officer of the CFOA for high rise fire safety on the Social Housing Working Group. I was the CFOA representative on the committee which has written BS 9991:2011. I delivered the CFOA Seminars in association with the Chartered Institute of Housing covering fire safety in high rise buildings in response to the Lakanal House incident. I represented CFOA on the Project Steering Group which produced the “Fire Safety in Purpose Built Flats” on behalf of the Local Government Group and Department for Communities and Local Government I served for three years as an Instructor in Fire Safety Engineering at the Fire Service College, Moreton In Marsh, Gloucestershire. I served for two years as an Associate Inspector of Fire Services within Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Fire Services and was a member of the Technical Guidance Project Group, responsible for the development and production of the guidance documents published by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister on the implementation of the Fire Safety Order. I served on the Chief Fire Officers Association’s Automatic Water Suppression Systems project Group and was author of “The CFOA Guide to Automatic Water Suppression Systems”. I represented CFOA on the LACoRs Project Group which re-evaluated and updated the CFOA/Local Housing Authority Joint Enforcement protocol.
