Inner EngineeringProject Development Manager
Sep. 2008 - Dec. 2019Tamil Nadu, IndiaAs the Project Manager, my team and I would be appointed by different project sponsors as the single point of responsibility for completing their projects as would be outlined on their RFP or Charter. I was required to apply a range of my management skills to plan and control all aspects of the project I would be given to manage. More often, I would be required to apply appropriate management, leadership skills and persuasive powers to lead, influence, and negotiate with my project team, the appointed contractors, the suppliers, the consultants and the stakeholders. As the Project Manager, I would be responsible for developing the project plan, which would integrate all the individual programs. In addition, I would set up and manage the planning and control system to issue instructions, monitor progress, review performance and take corrective action where necessary. It was my primary responsibility to identify and define the complete scope of work for any given project. Then, I would create the breakdown structures to determine the deliverables to recognise the work packages to make those deliverables. Finally, I would manage the scope change process on the project’s objectives and control any unnecessary scope creep. It was my responsibility for setting up the project’s communication system to keep all the stakeholders informed. Part of my primary responsibility was to manage the risk management system I would create to identify, quantify, respond and control risk. In addition, I would ensure that the project risk aligns with the Government Department and any organisational acceptance level risk.
