I've done research regarding fuels and EPDM type rubber on the GC-MS, FKM curative type analysis with GC-MS and XRF, different make ups of silicone adhesives by GC-MS, Nickel plating thickness analysis by XRF, polymer film crystallinity analysis by DSC and Raman microscopy, and others. I am the SME on the GC-MS, XRF, polarized light microscope, and Raman Microscope. I provide training for new hires on these instruments as well as any calibrations and maintenence on these. I am also responsible for writing technical reports and sending them out to our clients.
