Jul. 2007 - Jul. 2011My research interests are in the areas of social epidemiology (social determinants of health and global health equity), indigenous knowledge systems, transcultural mental health, support for immigrant and refugee communities, critical and participatory research methodologies, community health research, and anti-oppression and social justice praxis. My academic training is in the area of critical sociology specializing in social policy, social justice and medical sociology (social epidemiology). I have worked as a research coordinator, research analyst and community-based researcher for a number of academic institutions, non-for-profit agencies and community-based organizations in Alberta before joining the faculty. In addition, I have taught both graduate and undergraduate courses since 2002 in the area of research methodology (quantitative & qualitative), critical social theory and social policy in a variety of disciplines and academic institutions.
