Jan. 2020 - Oct. 2020Campton, New HampshireI am the Public Affairs Officer Supervisor for the White Mountain National Forest. My duties range from Forest Leadership Team meetings where I am a key member in deciding forest wide decisions, to social media post and congressional meetings, both in person and by phone. I have developed long standing relationships with the public, local leadership and congressional members. I have been the Public Affairs Officer through the COVID-19 Pandemic, this encompasses developing press releases and public outreach during difficult times while insuring I kept good relationships with community leaders, state and local government. I am the liaison with the State of New Hampshire, Emergency Operations Center and the spokesperson for the forest during daily calls with state leaders. Handle the communications plan and functions during a closure order of a highly used area on the forest, this closure would be far reaching in affect to areas such as Boston and New York City. Coordinated Hwy signage, contact with local officials, developed press release and talking points to be used through out the state and on the forest. - I develop new ways to communicate the agency's message on controversial and sensitive issues where public reaction has been negative or indifferent but public involvement is critical. - I have represented the Forest in meetings and discussions involving individuals, groups, and organizations working in support of, or opposing, the policies, programs, and work of the Forest. - Perform supervisory duties 20% or less of the time. Plan the work to be accomplished by the unit, assign work to employees, and establish production or quality standards for the units work. - Performs duties in a non-discriminatory manner which consistently demonstrates fairness, cooperation, and respect toward employees, office visitors, and the public. - Develop networks, build alliances, and collaborate across boundaries. - Seek opportunities to share knowledge and skills with others.
