olicitor: I advise both managers and investors on the structuring, establishment and operation of investment funds, with a focus on closed-ended alternative investment funds. I have worked on fundraisings and investments in a number of different areas including private equity, venture capital, credit, infrastructure and real estate, establishing structures in the UK as well as abroad. I also have experience working on management incentivisation schemes, secondary transactions, corporate transactional support and bank financing arrangements in respect of fund finance. I have undertaken two secondments during my career; namely at the European Investment Fund and at Legal & General Investment Management. These roles have given me a valuable insight into the wide variety of struggles faced by complex investment businesses. I have experienced the internal roadblocks, delays and hurdles that need to be overcome in order to see a project through from its inception to completion, the requirement to cater to multiple internal and external stakeholders, and the different obligations imposed on internal counsel (compared to private practice service providers). Importantly, my direct exposure to the processes adopted by each business gave me an understanding of the different ways in which such issues can be tackled to ensure an efficient approach and a successful outcome. Training, Knowledge, Expertise and Business Development: I have been actively involved in fee earner training and development, as well as knowledge and database management. Over my career, I have devised and presented legal training to the funds teams at Paul Hastings, Ashurst, Jones Day and Macfarlanes, alongside preparing and delivering presentations to clients. My business development activities, principally through nurturing industry relationships, has led to many new client introductions over the years.
