Sep. 1995 - Aug. 2008At Honeywell Fire Systems, tasks included copy and continuity editing, electronic page layout and production, and diagrams/graphics/typography. Provided production, design, and editing for growing library of product data sheets and product labeling as part of an engineering support department. Coordinated project details and status with marketing, engineering, and approvals departments. Provided direction to interns and mentoring to other department members. Projects included developing layout/typography for templates as data sheet library was reformatted into FrameMaker. Software, primary use (all PC): Adobe FrameMaker, PageMaker, Photoshop, Acrobat; Ventura CorelDraw. Secondary use: Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint; Adobe Illustrator. Posted materials to internal site via content management system.
• Honeywell “Six Sigma Plus” quality certification at “Green Belt” level. Group project examined process/cost of catalogs copied in the internal print shop, with recommendations for inclusion/removal of individual data sheets based on marketing and customer priorities and number of website hits. Cost to include a document was $900 per sheet of paper per year, so increased use of electronic distribution also emphasized.
