Since joining the Bright Network website I have had the opportunity to join so many events and talk about topics very near and dear to my heart. These include topics such as breaking barriers, inclusivity and diversity, as well as talking about difficult issues of neurodiversity and other difficult ethnically backgrounds. It was an incredible experience to feel like our opinions truly matter to the success of Bright Networks events and to see how much they care to provide for students entering the workforce.

Oct. 2023 - Oct. 2023London, England, United KingdomIn this event we had the opportunity to listen to many different companies explain their experiences on breaking barriers, imposter syndrome and boost our self-esteem on taking a chance when applying to jobs. Although attending two days before my Macroeconomics examination it was worth it. They did an incredible job about talking about diversity, inclusivity and belonging, and this is something I am extremely passionate about. We had a chance to come on camera and talk to certain early careers and other employers and find out more. After this event I attended the focus group where I was able to talk to the organisers about how they might be able to better the event and meet them in person over zoom. This was an incredible experience too.

It was an extraordinary experience being able to see how my story about over coming my health and returning to study and now achieving and seizing every opportunity available make an impact. I have also brought affordability to South Africans for the IGCSE, AS and A level mathematics systems and provide free advice to parents, students and other teachers on how to navigate the Cambridge education system to allow the to have the world as their oyster.

This required developing five lessons for every week, five worksheets and matching worksheet memos as well as assessments and assessment memos. It was an incredible experience and one to remember. It is wonderful experience knowing that my effort and excitement in writing this course will help prepare the students (from all over the world) for the EdExcel International GCSE Mathematics examination.

It was extremely insightful and we learnt many skills from different companies and keynote speakers. We had to complete a group task with individuals we did not know prior to this event and also had the opportunity to complete many 1:1 peer sessions where we could network with many students from across the UK and learn about their journeys and how they were finding the IEUK2023. I had to complete an individual auditing task set up by PwC in order to receive the certificate of completion.

Here is a review of one of my current students “Ingrid has helped me alot these past few weeks, making me understand concepts that I have taken a long time to grasp. With her help it has become easier to do activities with more understanding, and I have gained more confidence in the subject. She is also very kind hearted and understanding making it easy to ask for help and making math not as stressful as it usually is.” I try to provide them with ease and non stressful situations and to help them flourish in a subject they used to fear.

We went through the syllabus and made sure they had clear understanding of every topic before we moved onto the next. I set them homework every day, marked their homework, set assessments, main assessments and mock assessments for GCSE examinations. Once our course was complete, they were ready to write their examination. I also taught groups or individuals with different curriculums. Most of these classes were for extra help classes. We would go through homework problems together and I would re-explain concepts to them and the students would leave the lesson worth a greater understanding and ready for their tests or to tackle the rest of their homework alone
