Susan Nusser teaches English at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where she uses student-centered pedagogies that leverage her students’ curiosity and lived experience to help them succeed. She has over fifteen years of teaching experience and is a skilled instructor and course developer in face-to-face, online, and hybrid learning environments. She is Quality Matters-certified and has served colleagues as a faculty coach in both online and face-to-face teaching. Through institutional shared governance committees, she helped develop 21st-century teaching standards, managed the rule-making and amendment process for the faculty handbook, served on the core committee of the schools’ Achieving the Dream initiative, and as faculty coach, helped launch MATC’s Center for Teaching excellence where she developed and taught workshops on the student-centered syllabus, using AI in the classroom, assessing writing, and online course design. Susan has published two books of literary nonfiction, as well as essays and feature articles in national publications.
