Director of Government Relations
Tax Credit Co.Director of Government Relations
Mar. 2011 - Dec. 2016Los Angeles, California, United StatesServed as the Director of a federal government relations program for the most widely recognized and respected company in the California Enterprise Zone (CAEZ) state tax incentive at the time that was also looking to diversify its federal portfolio. Tax Credit Co. (TCC) sought me out as a nationally recognized expert in the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). Led executive team to create one of the most efficient and highly profitable WOTC programs in the country. The initial goal was was to train and educate the entire, national staff on the subject matter and secondarily, to create a screening program to be implemented. From scratch, we conceptualized and launched exclusive screening software, designed and implemented customer service modules, created partnership agreements, and identified the goals that would prove our success. After the launch, I was solely responsible for the relationship management of all state and federal government relations for state offices. As part of this role, I served as a Steering Committee member (4 years) and Secretary (2 years) of the National Employment Operations Group (NEOG). NEOG is a nonprofit organization composed of 10+ competitors in the tax incentive industry that partner to ensure the continued success of the (WOTC). NEOG is solely responsible for the lobbying activities that led to the laws that made WOTC continue from year to year. As a steering member and secretary of this unusual group, I led and executed the legislative strategy that led to the continuation of the laws that enabled millions of employers to participate in the federal program. Together, we identified the state-level priorities that would elevate national issues and devised game plans to make goals realities. The success of WOTC is solely attributable to the work of NEOG and the members therein. Stellar references are available from NEOG, members that belonged to competitors within the industry, and Tax Credit Co.
Director of Client Services
Tax Credit Services, LLCDirector of Client Services
Aug. 2004 - Feb. 2011Memphis, TNI began my tenure with Tax Credit Services (TCS) in direct, business-to-business, cold calling sales during the infancy of the firm. Together with the founder, I launched a sales program that resulted in exponential growth and the subsequent requirement of additional staff members to accommodate it. By surpassing goals, we grew to become recognized throughout the state as the leading provider of and top subject matter experts in the Georgia Job Tax Credit (GA JTC). As the firm grew, my responsibilities were modified to best suit its needs. I served as the trainer for all new employees, covering everything from job-appropriate subject matter to company policy. I continued to mentor new employees throughout my time there. When the firm earned a national reputation for a federal incentive, the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), we were purchased by another firm in Memphis, Tennessee. The business again underwent a variety of changes, many of which I aided in the execution of with my role also changing as needed. Although my title was the Director of Client Services, my duties reached far beyond the scope of that job description. In addition to client implementations and onboarding, contract negotiations, and problematic applications, I supported budgeting and forecasting projects, collaborated with the software development team to create the proprietary screening software used by the firm, and also continued in my training and mentoring role. I oversaw the operations department to ensure the highest degree of efficiency while goals were met. Began to interface with lawmakers to ensure continuation of credits on the state and federal levels.

When reports were found to be substantiated, I physically removed any child(ren) from the unsafe environment.
